Breaking New Ground in Bleeding Management with Point-of-Care Viscoelastic Testing
Managing Critical Bleeding in critical care setting
Quantra helps reduce the use of unnecessary blood products
The Quantra point-of-care analyser is designed to aid in the management of bleeding in the critical care setting. It delivers actionable results within 15 minutes. Easy-to-use and interpret, this POC system helps you choose the right treatment in the right time.
Acute perioperative situations demand fast action on whether to transfuse critically bleeding patients. That’s the risk with all major surgery – from trauma, organ transplants, orthopaedics to cardiothoracic procedures. In cardiac surgery, post-surgical bleeding occurs in up to 20% of cases, while the trauma of post-partum haemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide.
Take a look at ‘your patient is bleeding’ and see how quickly the life-saving information appears to on the Quantra screen. The fully closed, cartridge-based system starts providing significant data within five minutes with the full picture, including clotting time and the quality of any formed clot, ready to view within 15 minutes.

Your Patient is Bleeding!
What Can You Do Right Now?
The Quantra cartridge-based viscoelastic testing system may be a new name to you – but you’ll probably know our global parent company, Diagnostica Stago. We’re recognised worldwide for our expertise in haemostasis and thrombosis, supporting your clinical laboratory.
Because of Quanta’s speed, ease of use and precision, it is already being trialed by leading hospitals in the UK and Europe. Its performance has convinced several clinical teams to integrate it into their routine surgical protocols.
Quantra’s high precision, generally strong correlation to standard laboratory assays and good concordance with the clinical presentation are increasingly being demonstrated in clinical studies. It has also been shown to have a high negative predictive value for thrombocytopenia – with a recent study identifying potential cut-off values for the FCS (fibrinogen contribution to clot stiffness) and PCS (platelet contribution to clot stiffness) parameters. It indicates these can be safely used in place of (or alongside) lab-based fibrinogen and platelet thresholds, for guiding transfusion decisions. See below to download our bibliography.

Six QPlus parameters
Results time </= 15 minutes
Clot times with/without heparinase (CT & CTH), clot stiffness (CS), fibrinogen contribution to clot stiffness (FCS), clot time ratio (CTR), & platelet contribution to clot stiffness (PCS).

Quantra is currently the only VET instrument that directly outputs both fibrinogen (FCS) and platelet contributions to clot stiffness (PCS). This helps you quickly determine if these are required without having to calculate them manually – speeding up decision-making.
Unlike some other systems, you can obtain QPlus clot stiffness parameters while your patient is on bypass.

Parameters on QStat cartridge
Clot time (CT), Clot Stiffness (CS), Platelet Contribution to Clot Stiffness (PCS), Fibrinogen Contribution to Clot Stiffness (FCS) ………. </= 25 min
Clot Stability to Lysis (CSL) ………. </= 60 min

Studies confirm that QStat can also assess fibrinolysis in trauma patients. CSL is a calculated functional parameter, indicating the reduction of clot stiffness that is likely to be due to fibrinolysis. By directly comparing changes in clot stiffness (with & without TXA), it automatically corrects for clot retraction due to interaction between platelets, fibrinogen and the POC device.
After only 30 minutes training, a new user can confidently read and interpret the results on the dials display – with >96% proficiency
